Dear Friends in Christ

July 4th, 2020

God’s grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus.

As we all know the situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is constantly unfolding and that is why our church has been monitoring and considering all the information that is coming out.

Ontario is still in the second phase of ‘opening’ up after a very strict ‘lockdown’. It is, however, looking to move into phase three by the end of July. This news of ‘opening up’, however, cannot help but remind us of all we have being going through since the middle of March. Most of us would agree it has been stressful. We also know that it will be a long time before we fully absorb, understand and process what we have experienced and continue to experience.

I believe it is way too early to articulate the key lessons to be learned in this pandemic moment. God’s wisdom suggests to me that we acknowledge whatever emotions we have been experiencing during this time. Let us also acknowledge and celebrate the love, courage, support, and care which we have offered, received, and witnessed.

Our faith gives us more than enough reason to hope – for we worship One who created life and walks the journey with us. We are God’s people and rather than live in fear, let us continue together approaching this challenge as we enter a new phase.

We have an opportunity to model for our children and for families and for each other what a faith-filled and faithful response can be.

Lastly, if anyone needs support please reach out to me by leaving a message on the church answering machine or send an email directly to sandra48@bellnet.ca.  I am here to provide care and support for all of you, whether you need help listening to our online services, a prayer for your health, or just a phone call to know you are not alone.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7)

May the peace of God dwell richly in your lives.
