Church announcements

Sandra Yule will be on her Continuing Education leave this coming week, Sunday, Nov 24 - Saturday, Nov 30 inclusive.  Thank you to Rick Ward (F) and Mike Palmer (M) for leading us in worship this Sunday. 

The LAST honey order is due next Sunday,  December 1.  

COFFEE TIN SUNDAY is next Sunday Dec 1st -  

We are collecting Tins of regular ground Coffee, for Center 507.  Thank you to Heather Robertson for thinking of this need and delivering them. Center 507 serves 3 cans of coffee daily.  Fallowfield also donates to them their leftover food from their turkey supper and fish fry as well.  It is always well received!!!  (see newsletter attached to see the good work they do -  for info only )


The Choir now meets at noon on Thursdays at Fallowfield.

Merivale Quilters meet on Wednesdays from 9:30 am until noon in the Merivale CE Hall.

Merivale Fallowfield Book Club does not meet again until January as there is NO meeting in December.  

Meditation/Well-Being Group meets on Fridays at 10 am in the CE Hall and everyone is welcome.  Kindly refrain from entering the CE Hall during that time from 10- 11.

Tai Chi Group meets on Fridays following the meditation group from 11-12 led by Eileen Malcolm.  Everyone is invited.

Merivale Fallowfield Candle Lit Service and COOKIE exchange is this coming Tuesday, Nov 26 at Fallowfield.   Join us at Fallowfield for an evening of fellowship followed by a beautiful candle lit service to start the advent season.  For those who wish to participate in the cookie exchange, cookies should be plates of 6-8.  ie - If you bring 3 dozen you take home 3 dozen. 

Guest Speaker at Merivale next week Sunday Dec 1.  Jake from the Ottawa Mission will be speaking about the wonderful work they do.  A social hour will follow the service in the Bistro.

The White Gift Service is on Sunday, Dec 8 at both churches.  Fallowfield will be having their yearly Christmas Potluck Lunch following the worship service.

Fundraising Events:

Fallowfield Frozen PIES are almost sold out. We only have raspberry pies left.  Purchase them now as they are going fast!!   They are $15 each.  Please contact Sheila Allen 613-825-8219

Merivale WREATHS These are locally produced, made of fresh balsam fir and measure about 18 inches. Each wreath is $ 25.  Orders are due on Nov 22 and are picked up on Nov 30.  Contact Sue Deschamps 613-226-1851 or

Sue is looking for a volunteer to pick up the wreaths on Nov 30, at 10 am in Navan.

Merivale CHRISTMAS MARKET, BISTRO AND BAKE TABLE, will be held on Saturday Nov 30 from 9 – 3.  Local vendors will showcase their handmade cards, knitted toys, soaps, indigenous crafts, wreaths quilted items and jewellery.  Stop by the Bistro for lunch or a snack.  Definitely check out the bake tale for a hostess gift or to get started on you Christmas baking.   For more information, please contact Sue Deschamps at

Crerar Honey The final orders are due next Sunday, December 1 and will be at the Church on December 8.  Payment is due prior to or on pick up of order.  Order forms for the honey are at the back of each church.  Cheques payable are to Fallowfield United Church or Merivale United Church.  


We continue to collect toiletries (M & F) for the Elizabeth Fry Society and nonperishable food for the Richmond Food Bank (F).  These are always greatly appreciated.  

SOCKS are now being collected for Center 507 at both churches for Center 507 which they truly need. There is nothing nicer each morning than putting on a pair of warm clean socks.
